Creative Valentine's Day Inspiration
Valentine’s Day is this Friday. What are your plans?? We haven’t had a Valentine’s Day that fell on a weekend in a few years now, so I think it’s time to celebrate!! If you’re like us, we can’t just put out some flowers and pink plates. We always have to do something a little unique, something different - to keep things interesting.
So if you’re in need of a few ideas, here is a few creative elements we’ve done over the years that will wow your guests, spouse, or kids this Valentine’s Day.
Conversation Heart Cookies
Starting off strong with one of our most favorite DIY’s, these conversation heart cookies! Maggie made these a few years ago for a Valentine’s Day shoot, and they are still so cute & cool!!!! You can personalize this with your kids names, nicknames for your spouse, or just do fun sayings like we did here. The only special thing you’ll need to buy is an edible paint marker to write on your text. If you’re a baker, I think this one is a no brainer! As for me, I’ll leave the baking to Maggie :)
TEA PARTY GALENTINE’S DAY THEME
If you happen to be hosting this year, think out of the box when it comes to themes you can incorporate. Instead of the typical pink & red hearts, look to other themes that feel feminine or incorporate that type of color palette. One year we did a tea party themed Galentine’s Day party and it was so cute! There were so many elements that brought this theme to life but some of my favorites were: Tea pot vases, floral napkins, and heart shaped finger sandwiches. Not to mention we found tea cups that said “tequila”, “gin”, etc. This will go down as one of my favorite parties // styled shoots!
DARK & MOODY COLOR PALETTE
Who remembers the book Fifty Shades of Grey? A few years ago it was all the rage! And we styled a party around that book, and the dark & moody elements of it. I love the color palette we came up with for this set up. The silver fringe backdrop with black balloons is not your typical look for Valentine’s Day. Therefore, the red really pops against the black! Use any black platters and cake stands in your home and then head to your local party + grocery store to grab balloons, red roses, and strawberries to tie in that Valentine’s Day look.
PINK & RED CHARCUTERIE
One trend that I feel like is not dying anytime soon is the charcuterie board trend. How do I know this? Because I am the designated charcuterie girlie in my friend group. Every event that I attend, I am on charcuterie duty! And I am not mad about it because it’s EASY. But for holiday’s I think it’s really nice to mix things up and try to incorporate the theme. So for this charcuterie we did we used a lot of sweets, candy, and red elements to make it feel on brand for Valentine’s Day.
SKIP DINNER AND DO BREAKFAST INSTEAD
Busy schedule? Not a problem! Make it a breakfast date instead. Seri set up this this cute breakfast board for her family that was full of fresh, colorful ingredients. The show stopper were these heart shaped pancakes! How cute?! A pack of heart shaped cookie cutters is so inexpensive and you can whip them out each year to re-use. This year I used my mini size to cut little brie bites for my Galentine’s Day charcuterie cups!
So there you have it! 5 unique and cute ideas that you can use to jazz up your Galentine’s or Valentine’s Day. No matter how you choose to spend this week, just make sure to spread some love!
