Finding Valentine's Day Inspiration from Within
When looking for inspiration, we often have the habit of looking back at our own work to inspire new ideas. Sometimes an old party, theme, or styled shoot can jog new ideas. Style trends often circulate, and things that were cool and then not cool, 10 years ago are brought back to life, but maybe with a new twist. This becomes especially true around any holiday. We look back at our many years of photos and blog posts to see what is still relevant about those photos that we can speak to and draw inspiration from.
Needless to say, when looking back at our Valentine Day’s of the past, we were inspired by a shoot Seri did ELEVEN years ago. So much of the content in these photos are things I would still do if I were setting up a party today.
Let’s start with the decor: Lately so much of what you see on online are party themes done way over the top. I love that in these photos, everything she added to the shoot was really selective. In other words, it’s not a lot of “stuff” which often feels overwhelming to set up and expensive to buy. The pink honeycombs were BIG back in the day, and then they weren’t honestly I have to say I think they are looking pretty cute again here! I love the pop of color and that they can collapse and be repurposed for another celebration.
Now let’s talk balloons, one thing we have never not done is fun balloon tails. We have done so many variations of this in the past. Here these pink tinsel garlands tied to balloon hearts are really stealing the show. What a cute photo opp! We carry similar balloons in the shop that can work for Valentine’s Day or really any party.
And finally the desserts: In our opinion a white cake is the chicest cake of all. You can literally add anything to them to bring a theme together. On this cake she did LOVE sparklers, and I think it turned out so cute. In our shop we still carry those LOVE sparklers to this day along with cute heart ones as well.
