Celebrating Cinco!

Here in the Northeast, we're finally starting to get some warm weather… hallelujah! And with that sunshine, I’m already dreaming about all the fun events and holidays coming up. First on the list? Cinco de Mayo—one of my absolute faves, mostly because Spicy Margaritas are my favorite drink.

When I think of Cinco de Mayo, a few things instantly come to mind: sunshine, cocktails, and colorful décor. Honestly, that’s all you really need to throw a great party!

Over the years, we’ve hosted our fair share of Cinco celebrations. One of my recent favorites was this backyard dinner table setup we did back in 2022. It looked super festive and polished, but it was actually really simple to pull together. A mix of colorful flowers, a paper banner, and a few fresh ingredients—that’s it! Easy but stunning.

Another year, we did something similar in the backyard, but this time the cocktail totally stole the show. We whipped up a mix of tequila and grapefruit juice, shook it with ice, then poured it into chili salt–rimmed glasses and topped it off with a fresh fruit popsicle. I mean… how perfect is that?

Oh, and I can’t forget the year we went all out with a HUGE taco bar at our office. I love taco bars because they’re all about the toppings. And when you plate everything nicely, it looks like you put in so much effort—but it’s actually super simple: lettuce, tomatoes, guac (store-bought works just fine!), salsa, chips, peppers… the list goes on. Once it’s all set up, it looks gorgeous and festive without much fuss.

Got a birthday near Cinco de Mayo? Turn it into a fiesta! My husband’s birthday is on May 1st, so this year we’re combining his celebration with a Cinco theme. Decorations can be super easy—just grab some mini cactuses, bright flowers, and fun paper goods (we have a ton of cute stuff in our shop, by the way!). You can take a look at these celebrations we’ve done for inspiration - here and here.

And hey, even if you’re not in the mood to host, you can still join in the fun. Grab dinner at a local Mexican restaurant! We’re big fans of supporting small businesses, and honestly, that’s where you’ll find the best food anyway.

Happy Cinco de Mayo, friends!
