Styling An Intimate Proposal Party

When the pandemic began, I think all of us kind of hit pause on our lives and patiently waited for things to reopen and go back as they were. If theres anything the last few weeks has taught us, it’s that life for the foreseeable future will be different! We will need to wear our masks, wash our hands more diligently than ever before, and gather safely & responsibly.

It’s hard to come to terms with the fact that amidst all this craziness, life keeps on GOING! It’s the party planning in my blood, but from day one I’ve reinforced how important it is to keep celebrating the birthdays, graduations, and the special moments in life the best way that you can!

We recently had a client reach out because he wanted some help styling his home to celebrate with his family after proposing to his girlfriend. Was this celebration the way he originally imagined it? Probably not. But you can’t wait to live your life! Obviously we were over the moon about this request because at Little Miss Party, making a big impact with a small gathering is one of the things we do best!

Adam (the groom-to-be) stressed to us that he really didn’t want the event to feel stuffy or too formal. He had a neutral color palette in mind and envisioned an intimate gathering for their immediate families and closest friends. The plan was for his future fiancé, Alexa, to be surprised when they came home following the big “moment” with a dreamy backyard setting for dinner & drinks under the stars.

So, with that in mind, we planned a picturesque evening filed with florals, string lights, and sweet personal details.

The star of the show were these gorgeous floral runners that Natalie created for the center of each of our picnic tables. We flanked them each with a few votive candles…honestly I still can’t stop staring at them. Stunning!

Above the picnic tables in a large tree we strung lights and added large white paper lanterns to add to the ambiance.

The bar was set with bud vases, a macrame runner, lanterns, and a stash of water bottles that had a custom illustration of the couple on them!

It was the perfect little gathering for these families to come together and celebrate the soon to be married couple! And to answer the question I know you’re wondering, she said YES!

We truly had the BEST time getting our creative juices flowing again, donning our masks on and styling this special evening. I can’t wait to see all the safe and intimate gatherings that take place over the next few months.
