Welcoming a new LMP Team Member
This week, like most weeks, was hectic and crazy in the LMP office. What set this week apart from others was the arrival of Shaylan- the newest member of our squad! Though she will be working remotely from Boston, she was able to make the trip to NYC for her first week with us. We met Shaylan while working on our events with Maybelline, and we couldn't be more excited about this new adventure together. We all can't stop raving about how we feel so whole and complete with her as a part our team. We've asked Shaylan some questions so you can get to know her better!
What did you go to school for?
I started out at Northeastern University in Boston as a music industry major. After my first marketing course I was hooked. I basically ran to join the business school, changed my major to marketing & kept music industry as a minor.
What has your previous job experience been before Little Miss Party?
I did several co-op internships while at Northeastern, mostly in the music biz (WBMX radio, TD Garden). My final co-op was at MTV where I worked in the music marketing & promotions department. After graduation I accepted a position with MTV (my actual ULTIMATE dream job). During my time there I was exposed to brand sponsorship integrations for mtvU Spring Break, the MTV Movie Awards and the VMAs and I fell hard for experiential marketing.
I love NYC but I’m a New England girl at heart…so I eventually shipped back up to Boston. I worked as the Marketing Manager for a mall in New Hampshire, managing marketing and PR for the center and working closely with national retailers. I enjoyed the role, but constantly had my eye out for something in the experiential space. Eventually I found the perfect fit and accepted an account management role at an agency in Boston.
Fast forward a decade (literally) when I hired Little Miss Party to work with my team on an amazing event for our Maybelline New York client. It was a match made in heaven…we partnered together on a few more events over the years and the rest is history!
What did you love about the work you did before?
A lot! The energy, fast pace and constant creativity. I absolutely loved creating immersive experiences where brands could connect with consumers “IRL.” I was fortunate enough to not only work with some of my favorite brands, but to travel the country attending music festivals like Bonnaroo & Coachella, the Oscars Red Carpet, New York Fashion Week…you get the idea.
Every day came with a new set of challenges and experiences, and I was never, ever bored. I was so lucky to work with an amazing team and clients. It was also a LOT of hard work...but everyone who constantly told me “wow your job is so cool” was absolutely right.
What are you excited to work with Little Miss Party on?
Literally everything! We have amazing things planned for 2018 & beyond and I can’t wait to dive in. More than anything…I’m so excited to be joining a team of fun, positive, hardworking and creative women that already feel like family.
Tell us something quirky about you.
I’m never without a koozie - I keep one in my purse at all times. I’m constantly amused at other people’s amusement (and jealously) when I bust it out at parties, bars, etc. I mean…nobody likes a cold hand or a warm beverage!
Tell us something you’re really good at.
I’ve been told I'm a great gift-giver, I absolutely love the challenge of finding the perfect present. I also make a mean playlist and I’m an excellent parallel parker.
What do you hope your future holds?
Health, happiness, time spent with family & friends…all that fun stuff. Hopefully punctuated with lots of live music, beach days, puppies, football & an endless supply of champagne. :)
