The Nasty Woman: Cocktail Version

Oh boy guys... it's the big day! The political madness will (hopefully) be coming to an end, and us US citizens will find out who will be our next president.  GULP.  This election has been like a big old trainwreck, and I know that we are all very ready for it to be over.

Over that past few months, I have seen many clever things come to life inspired by the infamous presidential debates that we have all been watching.  My new favorite? The 'Nasty Woman' cocktail. Yep. A very clever cocktail maker at Mother Jones created this drink after Drumpf's not-so-nice name calling of Hillary at one of the debates, and I am beyond excited to share my adapted version with you guys!

Here's what you need: -unflavored vodka -simple syrup -fresh basil leaves -fresh lemons -fresh lemon juice -soda water -ice -cocktail shaker

Here's what to do: 1) Add 4 oz of vodka and 5 basil leaves to your cocktail shaker.  Muddle basil leaves to release flavor into vodka.  Let sit for 5 minutes. 2) Add ice, 1 oz. of simple syrup, 1.5 oz of lemon juice to cocktail shaker.  Shake well. 3) Add ice to your cocktail glasses, filling halfway.  Pour mixture from cocktail shaker over ice. 4) Garnish with fresh lemon wedges and basil leaves.

Serves 2.

I recommend enjoying several of these babies tonight, after you have done your part and voted! I know I will definitely be needing several cocktails to get through all of the suspense.
