SURPRISE! And happy Fortieth
When we started our business 5 years ago, it was with the business model of going into clients' homes and transforming their space for a party. Well that's exactly what we did this April when we styled and coordinated a surprise wedding in Brooklyn.
This sophisticated couple wanted to host an intimate party to jointly celebrate their Fortieth Birthdays with their close friends and family, but with a twist…a surprise wedding!
Our clients have a beautiful home in Brooklyn with a backyard. The second we laid eyes on their space we knew the exact plan. Cocktails in the living room followed by a video reveal to announce their nuptials, the ceremony and dinner in the backyard and dessert and dancing back inside.
After getting to know these two we decided to go with romantic, modern decor with clean lines, bright whites and metallic accents. We converted the main floor of their home into a cocktail lounge and dance floor with white couches, hexagon side tables and high boy cocktail tables.
To add intimacy to the open space, we lit white pillar and tapered candles in rose gold hurricane vases and unique candle holders. We created custom coasters with metallic text for the guests to rest their signature cocktails on while they danced.
After cocktail hour, guests were encouraged to join our couple in the backyard for a special video, during which it was revealed that everyone had actually been gathered for a surprise wedding ceremony. The guests were speechless, and there was not a dry eye to be seen as the bride and groom said their vows under a custom chuppa made from birch poles and the brides’ fathers tallis.
In the backyard, we styled food stations, a bar, and cocktail tables with bright fuchsia and peach peonies in copper bud vases for pops of color throughout the beautiful outdoor space. Hung above the guests' heads across the width of the backyard were strings of bulb lights, which provided delicate, romantic lighting as the evening grew darker.
While in the backyard, guests enjoyed interactive and beautifully styled food by Pinch Food Design along with buttercream rosette cupcakes for dessert. Once finished dining, the guests climbed the fairy-light lined stairs back up to the main floor of the house to keep the drinks flowing and dance the night away.
It was a night to remember and an event we were honored to be a part of.
