If you want to get in on the fun this Halloween, rather than simply attending an event, why not consider holding your own?

Halloween is the perfect time of year to try your hand at hosting a spooktacular “ghouls” night out. Make use of your DIY skills to create simple, handmade projects with a spooky twist. Trust me, this wasn’t a scary process.

I started out with three different simple ideas to accent my Halloween inspired fireplace.

And last but not least, some bug boxes which were also so easy to put together with dollar store boxes, paints and a glue gun.

My Halloween shopping adventure started at two of my favourite stores. Pier 1 Imports and Homesense Canada(HomeGoods in the USA). Take a look at the cool, modern wall hanging I snagged at Homesense. As soon as I saw it, I had visions of spiders crawling up and all over it. Speaking of which, I had a tough time finding bugs in the stores. Yes, you heard me right. I was on a major bug hunt for this shoot and guess what? The only place I could find them was at Party City.

Believe it or not, most stores had their Halloween decor items on the shelves in August! Thank you!

I went into the stores, drooled over all the gorgeous items and filled my shopping cart to the brim. One of my favourite items was this “spellbook”, it definitely went hand in hand with my new skeleton friend. Another top pick were these spider and bat reversible sequined mermaid pillows. Quick confession, I was playing with them all day!

The colour theme I went with is Halloween glam. I wanted everything to pop, so I used hot pink, bright orange, black and white.

Once you’ve set up your fireplace mantle with all your wares, why not serve up a signature drink to your guests like this one? First of all, how cute are these? Thanks to Martha you can whip up Boonilla shakes in a jiffy.

See? It’s as easy as 1, boo, 3 !

It may be the spookiest day of the entire year, but I hope your day is filled with no tricks and all treats.

Happy Halloween everyone!

See you next week.
