It's All in the Details
When hosting an event, there are two small things you can do that often get over looked or forgotten. And that is….. place cards and favors. Throughout all our years as party planners and event stylists, we have learned that it’s really all in the details and the things that people appreciate the most, are often the smallest parts of an event.
Take a dinner party for example, you’ll expect for there to be food, drinks, maybe some decor throughout. But what are you starring at all night? Your place setting. Whatever is right in front of you as you actually sit down to enjoy the meal. Over the years, we’ve come up a few very cool ideas for place cards. And the truth of the matter is that ANYTHING can be a place card. We’ve done it all: Eggplants, corks, plastic figurines, photos - you name it, we’ve turned it into a place card.
But you don’t have to drive yourself crazy to achieve a pretty place card. It can be as simple as piece of cardstock & some simple script. (Pro tip: Type the name of your guest in large font on your computer screen and trace over your screen with a pencil, then go over it in a nice pen or marker - so even if you have bad handwriting, you can look like a pro!) Or just make your life easy and buy a pretty set for a rainy day! I have so many cute tableware that I always have on hand in case a guest decides to pop up and, I wasn’t totally expecting them! Next: Favors. I am making it my mission in 2025 to only gift with intention. Things I think my loved ones can truly use, love, and need in their life.
What’s an intentional favor you ask? There are so many!!!! Think like this: You’re hosting a pool party, and you want to send everyone home with a takeaway. Sunscreen! BOOM so useful. I love finding brands I love, and sharing it with my friends and family. In the store we carry Bask sunscreen, and it’s not only cute - but smells delish. If you have kids, pair it with a set of your gorgeous mini Jelly baskets, it’s a perfect little favor bag that they can keep, reuse, and repurpose! Our banana gift bag also goes perfectly, and can be used for just about any occasion.
In keeping with the useful theme, think about items we reach for everyday. Like a cute cup - we carry initial glasses in the store, that you can purchase with your friend’s first name letter!
Or a really nice set of pencils. Because I somehow seem to have 10,000 pens, but never a dang pencil! These ones from our shop say “One Thing at a Time” and I couldn’t think of a more universal gift!
