Halloween at Home
Halloween is creeping up on us in just over 1 month away now. Trick or Treating was canceled as we know it and there are many different ways to go about life right now - no judgement to any which way you are choosing to live. We are all doing what we need to survive physically and emotionally.
Some families need to take extra special care during this upcoming holiday season and with that, may be hosting a tiny small party. Even if it’s as little as 1-4 of you, I have some ideas for how to make it festive, fun and a night to remember because G-d knows, we need these special moments.right now.
My favorite LMP idea that was ever created for halloween was our Graveyard dinner. This dinner was genius. It was dark, it was spooky it was a great excuse to drink a little too much. We took getting dressed up to the next level with spooky make up, crazy hair and Crafty Maggie’s DIY Tombstone seating cards. Doesn’t get more creative or fun than this. How much would your kids LOVE these tombstones! They can be used to store small trinkets after Halloween!
Another spooky theme for a family, at home dinner celebration is our Masquerade dinner party that I will always be obsessed with. Make your own masks, create old fashioned seating cards and enjoy a delicious meal together.

Virtual Halloween for families:
It’s going to be cold, cases are spiking, we need to be CAREFUL. So if you plan to stay home and zoom with your friends then here’s what I suggest...let’s create a candy treasure hunt! First, all kids + adults can join the zoom (try to stream it onto your tv so the whole family can see!!) all together so you can share the plans for the party. Call it for 4 or 5pm and have everyone show off their costumes during the first few minutes of the call. Adults should take note of the costumes so later they can announce a winner for the best costume. If you are the host, have some Halloween prizes ready to send virtually such as E-Gift cards to iTunes or Amazon. Now for the candy treasure hunt….
Send each kid off with a list of clues and together they need to solve in their home. Create your list of clues with places that you can hide the candy for the kids to find such as under their pillow, under a bathmat, inside a drawer, etc. First ones to report back to the screen with all candy collected wins! (give another E-Card if you want!!). For your invite, I found the cutest “virtual” party invites on Paperless Post…how do you even choose? Tell me your fave from the options I narrowed it down to here in the comments below!
On the invite, share a timeline for your guests so they know what they should be prepared with for the zoom (costumes, snacks, drinks, games, etc.). If you want to go the extra mile, share some of your favorite Halloween recipes for your guests to make and celebrate with. My favorite is the candy rice krispy corns that Luke once made!
If you want to get really spicy...invest in a few gingerbread houses, candy and supplies and send to each of your zoom guests (you can make this a small group to keep the costs down). During your zoom, with cocktails and mocktails, make your haunted gingerbread houses together and then...EAT THEM!
Virtual for Adults:
First, A halloween costume contest is a no brainer. Set up voting in the chat room and have a prize ready to email to the winner.
Put on your best make up…and even a flower crown if you’re feeling super creative! Here’s our tutorial to show you how.
Share a playlist in advance so everyone can stream at the same time and dance while you zoom.
Pick your poison: Share cocktail recipes in advance and have your guests show up with a cocktail or mocktail in hand. Here are a few of our faves for Halloween:
