A Day at the State Fair
Get ready for a whole bunch of cute! We recently had the privilege of planning a special little boy's 1st birthday celebration. His Mommy grew up in Minnesota where the Minnesota State Fair was the event of the season so we knew we had to make this one big.Let's start with everyone's favorite - Dessert! We fell in love with these cow patterned balloons which we anchored in baskets of apples on either side of the dessert table.
Our girl Angela at Making that Cake outdid herself again with these corn dog shaped sugar cookies and mini pies.
And check out this cake! Our client had this cake specially made - she said it would be amazing, and it was even more gorgeous than we imagined. A true work of art!
The event space had a fantastic bar already in it, which was perfect for a self-serve bar. Thanks to Minted for the adorable Fair decor items we used around the space.
We love using vintage Coca-Cola crates as risers for displaying drinks like personalized water bottles.
Chocolate milks for the kiddies (and the adults!)
Beer and soda was served out of an authentic Radio Flyer wagon, which we hope the birthday boy will enjoy for years to come. Always tie your bottle opener and a clean towel to whatever tub/tin you are serving beverages out of. Guests will appreciate being able to wipe off their ice-cold beverage before enjoying it.
Fresh lemonade with mint was set out for guests to help themselves.
As you know by now, we are obsessed with these large confetti filled balloons + colorful tissue tassel from One Stylish Party. She makes the most gorgeous balloons and we just cannot have a party without them! For the State Fair, we used one as a centerpiece for the kids table, and anchored it to a small bail of hay.
Each place setting had a State Fair themed coloring page, tons of colorful crayons, a personalized mini water bottle and a bib to keep the kiddies clean when eating delicious Gorilla Cheese! Have you guys tried Gorilla Cheese yet? You can find their food trucks all over the city. For this event, they came in served up some of the tastiest grilled cheeses I have ever had. My fave? American cheese with caramelized onion and sautéed jalepeno. Delish!
As the kids finished eating, Penny and the Puppettes was set up in the other room waiting for them to join in on the fun. And boy did they enjoy the show!
At Little Miss Party, food presentation is almost as important as the food itself. We also served up some adorable mini Sigmund's pretzels in a red gingham lined wicker basket and a colorful crudite arrangement in a wooden crate.
Another fantastic First Birthday celebration with Little Miss Party - thank you for including us! And Thank you to Raquel Bianca for the fabulous pictures.
