A Backyard Baby Shower
This summer I had the pleasure of throwing my sister a baby shower. I made sure that this baby shower...was different form all the other baby showers I've ever been to in the past...
For starters, I asked my Aunt Debi if we could co-host the shower in her backyard. She's got a perfectly flat piece of lawn and I have always dreamed of throwing a party back there with a big white tent...
When she agreed, I got to work on the game plan. I wanted this shower to be laid back, have no games and be on an evening during the work week so we weren't taking anyone away from their weekends.
I chose a Thursday evening for the party and planned a family style menu with a rustic feel. The guests were invited to dine outside, under the stars with delicious food and cocktails.
The other detail I threw into the mix was a play on my sister's married last name. Her husband is a Dick. Jason Dick. So she was giving birth to...baby Dick. There was no shortage of laughs here starting with the gorgeous invites that I found on Minted and baby Dick references made throughout the night.
We ended the night on a sweet note, as we always do, serving mini cupcakes and donuts in an ombre of pinks.
The night went exactly as planned. Most importantly, Mandy was over the moon with joy to celebrate the birth of her first babe with dear friends and family.
We owe a great big thank you to all of those incredible vendors who helped to pull this all together for us...
