40 + FABULOUS
One of our favorite things to do is work with clients who are just looking to have a good time at their own party. That’s why when Meghan reached out for us to plan her 40 + Fabulous birthday party, we knew it we were in for a real treat.
She pitched us a vision for her 80’s themed soiree, and then we let our ideas run wild - cheetah print, hot pink, & shoulder pads came to mind immediately.
We started by coming up with our table decor. When we picture the 80’s we think light greens, hot pinks, Metallics, and funky prints. We were lucky to find some amazing rentals, including a minty green linen, gold cutlery, and pink glassware.
We added in pink tea lights from CB2 and an awesome roller-skate centerpiece for some added decor. For each place setting we folded cheetah print napkins and used a scrunchie as a napkin ring. To finish it off, every setting had a cassette tape personalized with each guests name.
Next we focused on making sure everyone had fun at the party. Meghan wanted a funky photo booth for everyone to snap some shots. We set up a gold fringe backdrop on a photo stand and then hung some metallic letter balloons that spelled out “fabulous” in front. Off to the side we set out some props that they could pose with. We gave them 80’s costumes, wigs, fake cigarettes, and empty alcohol bottles to give the ultimate party girl vibe. Two of Meghan’s favorite 80’s icons are Patsy & Eddie, so we had an famous photo made into a cutout for posing by PrintMor NYC.
The photo booth wouldn’t have been complete without this retro Polaroid camera we found that fit right in with all the decor.
We wanted to add some impact to the main room, so we scattered jumbo balloons throughout the space. We kept her outside area simple by just anchoring some into the pool.
To bring attention to the back deck we added stringed bulb lights along the railings. It gave her outdoor space a fun, summery effect.
This birthday party wouldn't be complete without a cake for the birthday girl. Angela from Making That Cake created this amazing cheetah print cake with a subtle “40” in front. We then added hot pink roses on top to give it a pop of color.
We were so honored to be a part of this FAB birthday. Cheers, Meghan!
