4 Special Details for a Small Baby Shower Luncheon

Our celebrations these days are looking so much different than they did 5 months ago. While we are still social distancing, hosting parties virtually, and staying home, we know that some parts of the country are beginning to open and families are ready to have small gatherings.

While so many big moments have been postponed or canceled- having a baby certainly isn’t one of them! We created this beautiful sit-down baby shower setup in our studio a few months ago. We’re so excited to share some of the special details that can translate to a socially-distanced, outdoor luncheon to celebrate the mom-to-be. Use these 5 simple ideas to make this day memorable for everyone celebrating!

1) FLOWERS

Flowers are the perfect way to spruce up any space for a celebration- outdoor or indoor! They add instant color, and can help direct the color theme for the rest of your party. In this case, Natalie made arrangements using roses, ranunculus, lisianthus, and poppies in shades of pink, peach and yellow. We always recommend you buy local when you can. Flowers are seasonal, so just be flexible when it comes to the types of flowers you want to buy! You can arrange in bouquets as you wish, or keep it simple with a couple stems in a bud vase. Either way, you can pop your flowers onto tabletops and any surface available for instant decor.

2) TABLE SETTINGS

Setting the table with your best dishes and flatware is the perfect way to make this day feel special for the guest of honor. The mom-to-be most likely would have been celebrating with a larger group of friends and family, where maybe you would have had casual, small bites. Make this feel like a really special meal by setting the table in a way that makes her feel fancy! We brought out our favorite pink glasses and gold cutlery from CB2, as well as Seri’s classic Kate Spade plates. We decided on paper napkins to match the flowers, and suddenly the settings came together perfectly.

3) FAVORS

No matter what, we always suggest favors for your guests, but especially now when we will do anything to brighten our days! Whoever attends your luncheon will be so happy to bring a sweet gift home with them- especially if its useful and will make them LAUGH! We always remind our clients to avoid favors that will go to waste- it’s a shame to see anyone spend money on a favor that their guests will end up throwing in the garbage anyway. That’s why these Poppin’ Bottles bottle openers are beyond perfect. Because honestly, who ISN’T popping bottles during quarantine (and beyond)?! Plus, we added the guests names to each of these so they double as a place cards. If you want to take it a step further since you have so few guests to buy for, consider pairing it with a 6-pack of your favorite bottled beer or cider! This way, they can put their bottle opener to the test.

4) FUN & GAMES

When it comes to baby showers for our clients, we always recommend games. Simply put, it’s way more fun for your guests to participate in this than to watch the mom-to-be open 20 presents! In addition to games, a traditional part of most showers that we suggest time after time are slideshows, and printed photos of the new mom as entertainment. It gives everyone a chance to laugh, and sometimes to even learn fun new facts about the guest of honor! Everyone will have a great time enjoying food, getting involved in games, and conversing with one another this way.
