Vermont Brewery Tour

So before this mess began, I went on a weekend trip to Vermont to celebrate my 7 year anniversary with my boyfriend Liam. It’s a little tradition of ours to get away the week of our anniversary. Last year we did London, two years ago it was Punta Cana, and this year was Vermont.

Over the summer we did a trip to Maine and we absolutely loved it. The mountains, the fresh air, the lobster, and the beer!

We are truly beer people. Nothing puts us more in our comfort zone than a weekend trip to a brewery or a biergertan. Side note, it is my dream to go to Oktoberfest in Germany. I had actually begun looking into it for later this year…. before 2020 got canceled. Hopefully that’s the next trip I get to tell you all about.

Anyway - we were lucky to have a great time in Vermont before the quarantines and lockdowns started. Although we did some skiing and sightseeing, it was our own personal brewery tour that made up the bulk of our weekend. When this whole mess is over, maybe think about a trip up to Vermont to relax and treat yourself to some drinks, and if you do, then this post will be a great outline for your trip!

Foam Brewers

The first stop on tour! Before heading to our real destination, we took a little detour to Burlington, VT because we had heard that it was a great little town with lots to see and do. Thats where we stumbled upon this place. It is located right along the waters edge so when you’re done having beers you can go for a scenic walk!

Zero Gravity Brewery

This was our second stop in Burlington on our little brewery tour. This place was pretty cool because there was a ton of different games set up on a side room like shuffle board and darts. They also had flights which I really liked because the previous spot we went to did not. I always feel thats important because I don’t want to get sucked into a whole beer without trying it first!

Queen City Brewery

Located directly across the street from Zero Gravity is this little place. It was pretty packed while we were there which is always a good sign. Another thing I really liked about his place was that there was a restaurant in the front portion of the space. So after you’ve had a couple of beers, you can go enjoy a bite to eat!

Alchemist Beer

Our first stop in Stowe in regards to breweries (we skied for the first time ever the day before!). We actually decided to go on a real tour of the facility here which was great. We got to walkthrough their whole process and learned about the history of the brewery. Which is pretty cool because The Alchemist is a very well known craft beer company. At the end oft the tour they give everyone a variety 4 pack of beers and little souvenir glass! The only thing that sucks is that you cannot drink on the property. Which I got in trouble for because I totally had no idea, and popped one open at the end, haha.

Von Trapp Brewery

If you’ve ever watched the Sound of Music, you may recognize the name of this brewery. The Von Trapp’s are the family in the movie. Has nothing to do with what I’m about to say regarding the facility, just throwing it out there as a fun fact, haha! On our tour, we probably spent the most time here. While you couldn’t actually see any beer being made the building itself is located on a very scenic hill and inside there is so much light. It was a great place to just hang, so thats what we did! We ordered 2 flights so we could try every beer they had on the menu. We both had our favorite beers here. Liam is NOT a dark beer kind of guy but his favorite ended up being the Helles which is a Golden Lager. Mine on the other hand was the Dunkel which is a Dark Lager.

Idletyme Brewery Company

This was our last stop on the brewery tour because as you can imagine, by this time we had had A LOT of beers (there was also a stop at Stowe Cider along the way). You couldn’t really see the brewing machines at this place but thats ok because we really came here for the food. I had checked them out online in advanced and saw that they had an awesome menu, so we purposely put them at the end so we could enjoy some good food before a well deserved nap.

We had so much fun on our little weekend trip away. I can’t wait for this all to be over so that we can get back to doing this every weekend!

xoxo,
Natalie
