International Women's Day
March 8th is International Women’s Day so I can’t think of a better excuse to write a few words about some of the incredible women in my life.
Speaking current day (so aside from my mother, sister, aunts…who are obviously my whole world), the most important women in my life are my team members. I absolutely could not run the Little Miss Party business or make it through my day to day life without these gals…
Kathleen
Kathleen has been working for me for….I don’t even know how many years now…let’s say at least four! Time has flown by as Kathleen has been taking care of my kids every week day after school year after year since they were little guys. Kathleen is such a dedicated care giver I could not be more blessed to have someone as thoughtful as her in charge of the kids while I’m at work. Her number one priority with my children is their safety and for that, I’m forever grateful. Kathleen is our sitter by night but an actress by day (then back again late night). She’s currently preforming at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade and we are so proud of her! She’s absolutely hilarious and I will not be surprised if I am one day watching her on Saturday Night Live. Kathleen is kind, trustworthy, loving and super smart. A true gem.
Shaylan
I met Shaylan years ago when she was working at an agency and hired Little Miss Party to do an event for Maybelline’s Global Influencers. From the moment I met Shaylan I knew that she was one of us and by one of us I mean someone who works really really hard. If you own a business or are a boss yourself then you know that finding truly dedicated people is REALLY challenging. After working on two more Maybelline events together I knew that I just couldn’t live without Shaylan and hired her onto the LMP team. Shaylan has been such a strong asset to our team. She is always keeping us on track when our brains run wild with an unrealistic amount of ideas or projects ensuring that we focus on what is right for our brand and schedules. Shaylan is sharp, witty, compassionate, generous and always up for an adventure especially if it involves champagne.
Maggie
Once the LMP Business had gotten off the ground (which was pretty quickly after we launched) and social media started to ramp up with outlets like Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube, I quickly realized the skill missing from our business was graphic design and marketing. Enter Maggie. She was friends with Abby who used to work for me and she suggested I bring Maggie in for some freelance work. Maggie ended up freelancing for me for almost a year at which point it became clear that the business could not run without her. Her design and marketing skills became imperative to the growth of LMP. Maggie has a great eye for our brand. She has redesigned our website and media kit, takes all of the photos for our content creation (and so much more), creates all custom designs for our events and even works events with us. Maggie wears so many hats and never lets me down. I can always count on her for quality, creative work. Maggie is always a ray of sunshine in the office with her incredibly positive attitude, big heart, constant creativity and intelligence.
Natalie
My favorite thing about how Natalie came into the LMP Family is that she sought out us. Natalie reached out looking for an internship a few years ago. We brought her in for an interview and explained that we didn’t have a position available at the moment but would be happy to let her shadow us and help out to see how our business worked. The interview basically turned around to be Natalie interviewing US. She left saying, Ok I’ll be back in touch with a decision for you. I was totally taken by her confidence especially since I didn’t even really have a job to offer her! But Natalie was determined to get her foot in the door and that’s exactly what she did. She accepted our “internship” and immediately started helping us around the office. Within weeks we were booking jobs that we realized we could use additional assistance on and included Natalie into the mix with paying event work that she absolutely loved. Natalie has an amazing eye for decor, especially florals. Before working for LMP she was interning in a floral shop and gained a great deal of experience while working there. Now, Natalie is a full time employee working at LMP as our Design & Events Coordinator as well as head florist. Natalie is hard working, caring, funny, clever and so passionate about her career.
Hats off to all the ladies in my life but huge thanks to these gals who make my life easier with their help, support and love day in and day out.
