Class of 2013

We had a busy season with graduations this spring at LMP! First with Ali’s graduation dinner…then followed by a party we did for a boy named Michael. Michael just graduated high school and is going to Emory this fall. His parents wanted to throw him a party to celebrate for their closest family and friends. We couldn’t have been more thrilled to work on this event and boy did we have fun with the designs!

Michael’s parents are nothing but relaxed and super sweet. They came to us to do it all – and that’s what we do best. So we started with the venue: Riverpark. This is a Tom Colicchio restaurant on the east side over looking the river. We had been dying to find the right client and event for this venue as it’s such a special place and hidden gem. Surrounding the building where it’s located there is a garden where they grow produce that they use in their dishes. What’s also a huge bonus to this venue is they have a cube. That’s right, a cube. It’s next door to the restaurant and is literally a huge glass cube where they have a cafe that they serve breakfast and lunch during the day from and can transform into an event space anytime. They also have everything that you need on hand…tables, chairs, linens, AV…you name it. Was a perfect spot for this party of 50 guests.

To kick the party off the guests made their way to the East Terrace to have cocktail hour overlooking the river. We set up a few pretty details over here being mindful of the wind so that nothing would blow away…starting with some beautiful florals that we made up in the Emory colors…

As well as some signage that Michelle’s dad carved for us…and we painted!

The appetizers served were made up of seasonal and fresh ingredients from the Riverpark garden and were absolutely delicious!

And we even had a signature drink — a “bees knees” mocktail for Michael and his friends to enjoy!

Following dinner the guests were ushered into the cube where the party began…and this was the general reaction received by the guests when they walked into the cube…

Michael loves tennis. So we took his passion for this game and built it into the decor by filling cylinders with tennis balls and using them as anchors for 3 foot balloons on each table.

We worked with the Flair Exchange on tissue tassel to hang from each balloon in the Emory College colors. Carmen from the Flair Exchange also made us bunting to hang from the bar where we set out personalized napkins from For Your Partynext to some blue and yellow M&M’s. Always a fun touch!

As for dessert…it was tough to hold back. We found the most fabulous vintage tennis racquets on Ebay and set them up against a symbolic piece of luggage. In addition to the tennis theme we tried to remember back to our college days (ouch) and think of what our dorm room was made up of. Well I remember eating a lot of mac n cheese on my single burner hot plate. Ha! So we used this as inspiration to display desserts made by Kreated by K.

We were also so lucky to work with Little Vintage Rentals for the first time! They are a new online shop where you can rent antique and vintage props like the typewriter you see on our table here. So cool!

As for the sweets themselves….SO delish! We had mini cupcakes topped with a nutella buttercream from Haute So Sweet and more goodies from Kreated by K such as S’mores pops, chocolate graduation caps and Emory cookies!

To thank everyone for coming out to celebrate Michael’s graduation we made up a favor table. At this station we set up another vintage suitcase that was filled with “candy diplomas”. We made these with plastic candy tubes from Shop Sweet Lulu, filled with blue and yellow M&M’s and attached a personalized hangtag.

Next to the table we set up a board that said “stick it to me”.  Ali designed this to look like a sticky note…a staple school supply! We placed pads of sticky notes on the table next to this board with pens for the guests to fill out with words of advice for Michael’s new journey off to college.

For dinner the staff at Riverpark served the meal family style. This kept the party elegantly casual where the guests could eat leisurely.

There were also a few speeches, a slideshow that we put together for the family and a lot of dancing with Kim the DJ behind the spin table!

It was a special night for this darling family and a good time was had by all. We were honored to be a part of such a fun and beautiful event and just adored these guys! Hope to work with you again one day soon…and CONGRATS MICHAEL! Good luck at Emory!

All of the gorgeous photographs above were taken by the talented Raquel of Raquel Bianca Creative. As always…you captured the evening perfectly!

We also were very honored by the feature for this party on Amy Atlas. Check it out here.
