A Rockstar First Birthday
A few weeks ago, Maggie and I had the pleasure of styling a birthday party for a super cool little lady named Ainsley.
Ainsley's mom worked with our venue scout, Laurie to find the perfect place for this special day... Café Medi on the Lower East Side in Manhattan. Café Medi is one of the most gorgeous spaces we've worked in to date. I mean... look at this mosaic wall!
The little birthday lady LOVES music, so we went with a rockstar theme. We chose a color story of purple, gold, silver and white to complement the already beautiful decor in the restaurant.
The space has very high ceilings, so we clustered jumbo purple and metallic confetti balloons with gold star, silver star, and disco ball balloons. To weigh the balloons down, we tied each cluster to a toy record player with gold spray painted records. After the party was over, many of the guests took these record players home for their kids to play with!
Seri arranged purple, white and grey flowers in black vases, which we styled on the mantle and on several tables to fill in the gaps between the balloon clusters.
The mantle is the main central focal point in the room, so in between each floral arrangement we styled a jumbo gold "A" balloon.
The space also has a very large mirrored wall on one end, in front of which we styled jumbo gold letter balloons that spelled ONE.
On our favor table, we placed black favor bags with personalized stickers that Maggie designed, one for each kid to take home. We printed and framed a little sign to encourage everyone to take their bag home, and styled it on top of our vinyl record cake stand.
On the favor table we also styled this absolutely gorgeous cake that Making that Cake whipped up for us. It could not have been more PERFECT!
Last but not least, we set out toy microphones and inflatable guitars throughout the space for the kids to play with throughout the party.
With our decor set and cake ready to go, our new friend Nick of Hipster Baby Music set up and played an interactive kids set for all the little ones, complete with games, sing alongs and bubbles. In front of his mic, we laid out some soft rugs and blankets for the kids to sit on while they listened.
When the guests arrived, Nick started to play and the awesome staff at Café Medi took care of the rest. Happy Rockin' First Birthday, Ainsley!
