Maple Manhattan

When I was home for Thanksgiving, my mom made me some of her incredible homemade French Toast with real maple syrup that she and my Dad got while on a trip to Vermont… YUM.  It got me thinking about how delicious syrup is this time of year, and wondering how it would taste in a cocktail.

I searched around on Pinterest and found a recipe for a Maple Manhattan, and it sounded so perfect that I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try it out.

Here’s what you need:
-rye whiskey
-pure maple syrup
-orange bitters
-sweet vermouth
-maraschino cherries
-ice
-cocktail shaker

Here’s what to do:
1) In your cocktail shaker, combine ice, 2 oz. of whiskey, 1/2 oz. of sweet vermouth, and 1/2 oz. of pure maple syrup.  Shake well.

2) Add a piece of ice to each cocktail glass.  Pour mixture from shaker into each glass, dividing evenly.

3) Garnish each cocktail glass with a maraschino cherry. Serve!

This subtly sweet treat is a delicious cocktail to enjoy after a hearty homemade dinner… an excellent dessert alternative.
