Summertime makes me happy. It's the only time of year where adults seem to have as many carefree moments as the kids do. At our house, we spend our weekends soaking in the rays, splashing in the pool and of course partying with our friends. The days are long which means extra fun for everyone. Naturally, I love to host but I totally understand how throwing a party can be overwhelming. For summer parties, keep the menu simple and easy. Try to serve food items that are OK sitting out in the hot sun - for example, a cheese plate is one of my favorite things to nibble on but will spoil easily if left out in the scorching summer sun. No backyard barbecue is complete without drinks, and our colorful pitcher is the perfect way to serve. Flowers don't need to be fussy...we snipped a few blooms from my yard and popped them into an extra paper cup and voila! The perfect centerpiece.
