Spicy Frozen Mango Margaritas
The other day, I heard a friend say that it is always tequila season, and I couldn't agree more! Despite that fact that winter has dragged on for way longer than necessary, I'm ready to dive into yummy frozen drinks.
We were looking for a way to warm up on a chilly NYC day last week, so I blended up some Spicy Frozen Mango Margaritas, and paired them with a pineapple salsa that Natalie made.
PINEAPPLE SALSA recipe via The Gunny Sack
Here's what you need:
-1 cup fresh pineapple, diced -1 cup fresh peppers, diced (we used red peppers) -1 tbsp. fresh jalapeño, diced (if you want it spicy!) -1 roma tomato, diced -1/4 cup red onion, minced -1/3 cup fresh cilantro, minced -3 tbsp. fresh lime juice -salt & pepper -tortilla chips
Here's what to do:
1) Combine all ingredients, except chips, salt & pepper, in a large bowl and mix together until all ingredients are dispersed evenly. 2) Add salt and pepper to taste.
SPICY FROZEN MANGO MARGARITA
Here's what you need:
-bag of frozen mango chunks -fresh mango juice -silver tequila (I used Patrón Silver) -triple sec -hot sauce -fresh limes -simple syrup -chili salt -blender
Here's what to do: 1) Combine bag of frozen mango chunks, 1 cup mango juice, 3 oz. tequila, 1 tbsp. simple syrup, 1 oz. of triple sec, a dash of hot sauce, and the juice of 2 limes in your blender. Blend until smooth.
2) Using a lime wedge, wet the rim of each of your cocktail glasses. Place wetted edge on a plate of chili salt to line the rim.
3) Pour frozen mango mixture into each garnished glass. Garnish with a lime wedge for the finishing touch!
Olé! Dip your chip, and take a sip. Cheers to warmer weather and plenty of tequila...
Until next week!
