Holiday Traditions From Your Favorite Party Girls
If you’ve been around here long enough, you know that as a team we go HARD with holiday gifting. It’s something we really take pride in, from the sourcing, wrapping, and the extra-ness of it all. To be honest, we lose all sense of control because we want each other to really just have all the things!!
We’ve been exchanging gifts as a team since as long as I’ve been around, but since about 2021, we’ve really fine tuned our team traditions. Every December Maggie and I fly down to Florida to join Seri so we can exchange in front of our big pink tree! Seri makes her famous latkes, which are a true highlight for me!!! You can find the recipe here. And then it leads us into about an hour of gifts. There is always a mix of big and small, things we asked for and things we NEED but didn’t even know we wanted, and usually an ornament or two. It’s so much fun!
That lead me to thinking about what holiday traditions we have individually with our own families….
SERI
* TRAVEL
* Lighting the candles on the menorah (even if we’re traveling!)
* Exchanging Hanukkah gifts
* Making latkes with family and friends
MAGGIE
* Cookies + a note laid out for Santa on Christmas Eve
* Whoever finds the Pickle Ornament on Christmas morning gets to open the first gift
* Our next door neighbors come over after gifts for breakfast casseroles and mimosas on Christmas morning
NATALIE
* Christmas Eve we watch our favorite XMAS movies: Mine is Muppet’s Christmas Carol (don’t judge) and my husband’s is It’s a Wonderful Life
* Christmas morning we take a picture on the stairs with my husband’s siblings
* Day after Christmas my husband and I treat as Christmas part 2 - where we exchange gifts to each other & then usually go out for a holiday cocktail!
I love holiday traditions and I love hearing about other people’s traditions. It’s truly never too late to start, so if any of these inspired you, give it a go!! Wishing you a Happy Holiday season!
