Hard Cider Sorbet Float

Team LMP is out in the Hamptons - summer has officially started! We are spending this week doing a ton of fun photo shoots, sipping cocktails by the pool and soaking up the sun.  Oh, and working!

This summer, I knew that I wanted to try a new twist on the boozy ice cream floats that I have been seeing everywhere on Pinterest.  I used to live in Boston, back when I was in college, and during my legal drinking age years I became a huge fan of Downeast Cider.  They are a Boston-based cider house, and they make absolutely delicious unfiltered hard cider.  It's not too sweet, which is exactly how I like my cider.

I reached out to them about making a cider-based cocktail, and they were kind enough to send us a few cans of their Original, Summer Blend and Aloha Friday cider blends! After sampling them all, I decided to make this cocktail using the super summery Summer Blend - a Hard Cider Sorbet float! It's a twist on a traditional ice cream float... which is perfect because National Ice Cream Day is coming up on July 16th.

Here's what you need: -Downeast's Summer Blend Cider, chilled -sorbet (we used Mango and Mixed Berry) -vanilla ice cream -fresh fruit (we used blueberries, strawberries and bananas) -fresh mint

Here's what to do: 1) Prep your berries and fresh mint by washing.  Cut up strawberries and banana into slices.

2) Take 1 can of Downeast's Summer Blend Cider, and before opening, shake well.  Since Downeast is unfiltered, this is an important step since it will distribute the sediment from the bottom of the can into the cider.  Once shaken, open and pout 1/2 of the can into each of your glasses.

3) On top of cider, add a few scoops of your choice of sorbet.  I did the mixed berry in one glass and mango in the other. 4) Top sorbet with 1-2 scoops of vanilla ice cream. 5) On top of vanilla ice cream, add fresh fruit.  To the mango, I added banana, and to the mixed berry, I added blueberries and strawberries. 6) Garnish with fresh mint, add a straw, and sip - quick, before it melts!

Maggie shot this for me and let me tell you, it was as delicious as it is stunning!

I enjoyed the fruits of my labor when we were done shooting while lounging by the pool.  I know... life is hard!

Cheers, and stay cool! Until next week...
