Mikey's Baseball 4th Birthday Party
One of our favorite clients reached out a few weeks ago asking if we could style a dessert table for her son Mikey's 4th Birthday Party, and we were so excited to say yes.
You see, we first met this client when we planned Mikey's First Birthday party a few years ago, so we were so excited to come back and see how much Mikey has grown up.
This birthday was at The Baseball Center, where Mikey frequently takes lessons, which happens to have an awesome party room and batting cages. An ideal birthday party venue for a little boy! Mikey's parents are divided between Yankee's and Mets fandom, so we went with a neutral, VERY baseball color palette of blue, red and white. The venue set the kids tables with blue plastic table covers and alternated between Yankees and Mets plates, cups and napkins at each setting.
Also at each setting, we placed a mini water bottle with a custom label that Maggie designed which said "Mikey's Grand Slam Birthday", a plastic baseball bracelet, and a pair of sunglasses.
They kept the food simple, so the venue served the kids pizza and ice cream cake, which we supplemented by placing tubs of Mikey's favorite snacks down the center of each table. In each tub we placed a silver scoop, to make for easy snackin' for the kids.
To each kids chair, we tied red or white balloons, with the exception of Mikey's chair at the head of the table, which got a baseball-shaped balloon.
The decor focus at this party was the dessert table, which we styled with a blue velvet table cloth and two jumbo red balloons tied to red and white baseball gloves.
All of the desserts were baseball themed as well. Our friend Making That Cake made baseball cake pops, which we styled in silver cubes lined at the base with red jelly beans, as well as baseball chocolate covered oreos, which we styled in white trays lined with red jelly beans.
We had the fabulous Betty of Biscotto Cookies make the most gorgeous cookies in the shape of baseball gloves, bats, baseballs, hats and even jersey's with Mikey's name on them and the number 4!
Also on the dessert table, we placed a glass canister with chocolate and silver sprinkle covered pretzel rod "Baseball Bats" by our friends at Fatty Sundays, and another canister with baseball foil candies. Finally, we set out popcorn boxes for each guest to load up with their own assortment of desserts.
As take home favors, Maggie designed the most fabulous "All Star" customized sports water bottles, which included a custom hangtag from Mikey, thanking his guests for making his birthday party a hit.
As a finishing touch, at the entrance to the party room and batting cages, we placed clusters of baseball mitt, baseball and star-shaped balloons anchored to baseball gloves so guests would know which rooms the party events were happening.
Happy birthday Mikey - we're glad your party was a hit!
