A few weeks ago my husband calls me to tell me he stumbled upon this awesome kids store in the east village. He continued on about how he bought our lil man a Run DMC tee and made friends with the owner of the shop for me…hmm. Interesting, I thought. He carried on and on about how cute and bubbly she was and how I’d get along with her famously. So he put the two of us in touch and today we met. I’ll tell you this – he was bang on with this gal Alex. She’s adorable! And her store is off the hook. I’ve actually struggled with finding cool kids stores in my hood and Alex’s store called Piccolini most certainly fills the void! With a clever assortment of toys that serve as incredible gifts from Melissa & Doug to Elegant Baby over to rocker tees and personalized blankets as well as a fabulous variety of books, rattles and other fun chuchkas to choose from.
After getting in touch via email Alex told me how much she loves our blog and we made a date to meet. Michelle and I went over to her store today and were greeted with a gorgeous fondant cake made by Alex’s mom who has a bakery in Brooklyn called Made in Heaven Cakes. Ok well heaven it is! Michelle and I had just eaten breakfast so Alex wrapped the cake for us to go. Of course I proudly displayed the cake on one my newly DIY neon pink cake stands and it couldn’t have looked any cuter…or tasted better. WOW! We will definitely be calling Made in Heaven Cakes for our next event.
To top of the fab meeting we had with Alex we did some shopping. Michelle bought a few gifts for friends with kids and I got the lil man a Veterinarian’s doctor set. What a way to use his wild imagination…as soon as I pulled it out of the bag he ripped it open, put it on and started to operate on the toy dog that this adorable, incredibly reasonably priced (at $35) Melissa & Doug dress up outfit came with.
I also couldn’t resist getting him a new pair of sunglasses since he was in great need for a cool set and grew out of the ones I got for him as a baby…so I grabbed a navy pair of Teeny Tiny Optics aviator glasses that are beyond precious. Ali happened to get a new pair of glasses earlier in the week…here are my beautiful models giving a thumb and a finger UP!
Finally I picked up a few gifts for a girlfriend of mine who we’re visiting on Sunday. She’s got a 4 year old boy who’s into dinosaurs these days and a 3 month old baby girl. For Hunter I got a Melissa & Doug dino stamp set ($10 bucks!!! GREAT value!!) and a Pink Floyd onsie, bow tied hair clip and mini Jelly Cat bunny for baby Ava.
Alex wrapped everything up to look super cute…
I am SO happy that we discovered this wonderful new kids store and cannot wait to go back. And a big huge thank you to Alex for treating us so well and making us feel so welcome in her store. Till the next shopping spree!
