What was the deal with J.Lo’s boob hanging out of her dress last night? I was definitely shocked though got a great big laugh out of it!
I decided to have a few pals over last night and turned to my friends at Hostess with the Mostess for some golden inspiration. I wanted to incorporate hot pink into my color palette for this Oscar’s dinner because we had recently stumbled upon a site that my sister found for making your own cake stands in neon colors – amazing. We made some for a party we have coming up and I’ve been dying to use them because they are so fab.
To keep up with the theme of the best picture nominations, and having a strong feeling the Artist would win, I chose a black and white color palette. I added in the pink to keep things exciting and threw in some yellow to honor the golden statue we were gathering to celebrate last night.
My decor was simple and really cute I thought. I used name tags for the champagne glasses which I downloaded for free from the Hostess blog and attached to each glass so everyone remembered who’s was who’s. I also served some good old fashioned popcorn using printables from the same site and easily glued them on to each bag.I used sweet & salty Kettle corn from whole foods which was to die for.
My menu for dinner was perfect. Simple but tasty.
To start I served crudités with a cucumber and dill yogurt sauce to dip as well as some rice crackers, brie and cheddar cheese and olives. I served beers, Izze soda pops and prosecco for the bar, also keeping things easy but yummy.
For the main course I found a fantastic and super easy pasta recipe on Epicurious. It was a pappardelle with a mushroom and chicken ragu. Along side I served an arugula salad with roasted plum tomatoes, shaved parmesan cheese and a balsamic vinaigrette. I rounded off with an Amy’s vegetarian pizza for my friend Rachel who doesn’t eat meat. Delish.
The evening ended with some two bite brownies from Whole foods and an Oscar’s pool. We had a $10 buy in and you had to fill out your ballot prior to the show starting. Swanna was the big winner last night…she knew her movies! Overall we had a great time, scrumptious meal and loads of fun commenting on the dresses!
