A Simple Cat Eye

On this weeks Beauty with Brittany Lo post, I’ll be teaching you how to create a simple, clean cat eye, a look that you can rock for everyday or dress up for a party or night out on the town!

My cousin, Maggie was in town and working with LMP on a shoot to promote the new Fifty Shades Darker movie, and she was looking to to a simple cat eye because she loves the way it looks, but feels like she can never achieve the look in a way that she likes when attempting to do it on her own.  I was so excited to show her how easy it can be!

Here’s how I did it:

Step 1) Apply makeup to the rest of your face first to set your base.

Step 2) Apply an eyeshadow primer to your eyelids.  I used Urban Decay’s Primer Potion.

Step 3) Apply some medium brown shadow to the outer crease of your eyelid.

Step 4) Use a black eyeliner pencil to apply a thin line of liner to the outer part of your lash line on your upper eyelid.  Use a smudger or a Q-tip to lightly smudge toward the inner corner of your lash line.

Step 5) Use a liquid eyeliner (I used Stila’s All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Intense Black) to draw a thin line along the lash line on your top eyelid, on top of the eye pencil.  You can add thickness depending on how dramatic you want it to look.

Step 6) Apply mascara, and you are good to go!

What do you think of Maggie’s cat eye look?

Until next time!

Flower Power

Today is about using fresh flowers to make pretty crowns just in time for spring…which is TODAY! Happy Spring everyone.

We recently brought a new team member on board, the most fantastic intern, Natalie who has been a great asset to our team. Her greatest skill in the LMP Office: flower arranging. Could she fit in any better?

She lead a flower crown making workshop for us and we of course turned it into a party. What a fun way to spend a morning with friends, huh?! We served a simple breakfast with fresh pastries, croissants and a enormous sweet brioche that we found at our local bakery. Abby brewed a pot of coffee and of course we toasted with pink bubbly.

If you plan to host a flower crown making party, ask your friends to dress for the season and no doubt they will pull out some pretty fabulous pops of color…

Here’s how you can make these flowers crowns with a few materials (easily found on Amazon) and a lotta flowers (if you live in warm climate then check your backyard first!).

Floral Wire
Floral tape
Good scissors
Leafy florals (ie. Italian ruscus, babies breath, spray roses)

1. Take your floral wire and fit it around your head so that you know how long it needs to be.

2. Shape the floral wire into a circle and then twist the end in order to keep it in place at the length you need. (For added security, make the length even longer and wrap the extra around the crown to make it thicker).

3. Take your floral tape and begin wrapping it around the entire crown (Make sure you are gently pulling the tape as your wrap, so that the tape becomes sticky).

4. Begin making small bouquets with your flowers and greenery. Then wrap the ends with the floral tape.

5. Take a long piece of greenery and twist it around the crown, then secure with floral tape.

6. Add in the small bouquets and secure with floral tape, add or subtract to your liking.

7. Take some pictures and have fun!

The hunt for the perfect eyeliner

For those of you who have been following along on the LMP Snapchat over the past month, you’re knee deep in my eyeliner saga. For those who were not in the loop from the start of all this….let me catch you up to speed.

Last month after the infamous interview where Matt Lauer was grilling Kellyanne Conway I noticed her eye make up was schmeared on her face and she looked like a hot mess. I ran to the mirror and realized oh for the love. MY EYE MAKE UP LOOKS THE SAME!

You see…I’m not a make up person. You know those people? Like me? Who have NO clue how to apply make up and just don’t care to learn? Might be due to my lack of patience, or lack of time in the morning to get ready. Whatever it is, I just slap on some eyeliner and walk out the door.

Well thanks to Kellyanne, the hunt for the perfect eyeliner began and I shared it with you all on Snapchat and never have I received such a strong response from you all. Apparently I’m not the only one with this eyeliner issue!

Since this saga has carried on for one month now I thought it would be fun to round up some of the incredible suggestions I received. Thank you so much to all those who offered to help me out!

Yes that’s right. A Sharpie. That was suggested by my Aunt Debi. Not far behind many of you who suggested I get the ducts of my eyes tattooed which I totally considered.

But it wasn’t until….a few of you spotted the brand called Thrive in an ad on Instagram. After purchasing 6 new eyeliners in the short span of one month, I was ready to throw in the towel. But I thought…let’s give it one last shot so I placed an order. GUESS WHAT? TODAY…it worked! It lasted all day! Not counting my sobbing through the Broadway show Dear Evan Hansen but from 10am until 5pm it was PERFECTLY in tact, in my ducts, no gunky build up in the corner of my eyes….YAY!

So y’all, the time has come. We will now need to obsess over something new. And I’m glad I recently asked because I got such a great response about what we should talk about next! Things like fashion in the LMP office, daily routine with kids in NYC, more on NYC (from those who live in small towns!) and the best suggestion I heard was how to make throwing parties easier. Keep watching and we will be tackling all of this SOON!

And again you guys…THANK YOU for following along, showing your interest and sharing your tips!  We love love love hearing from you and appreciate all the tips and feedback.

In case you’re not currently following LMP on Snapchat you can find us here.

Abby’s Waves & Braids

For this weeks Beauty with Brittany Lo post, I’m talking about another hair look from the recent Fifty Shades Darker party that the ladies of LMP shot in their studio for Valentine’s Day!

Because this shoot was inspired by the new Fifty Shades Darker movie, the ladies wanted their looks to be a bit sexier.  Abby and Natasha of Beautini looked through some inspiration, and decided on this fun waves and braids look!

Here’s how to do it:

Step 1) Curl your hair with a 1.25″ curling iron

Step 2) Section your front into 5 different sections. The top section (the third one in) should be centered and slightly wider than the side braids. Start by braiding the top section and then proceed braiding the side sections.

Step 3) Once all five braids are completed, secure them al together creating a ponytail. Wrap a piece of hair around the elastic to cover it.

Step 4) Spray a little hair spray and you are all set!

This look is quite simple, and adds some unexpected variety to the typical half up, half down hairstyle!

Until next time…
